So it's that time of the year again... time for my baby boy to turn another year older and I'm super excited about the invitations that I made for his party:

It took a little while to get it all figured out but the look on his face when he saw the finished product made it worth every second! (Even though I did orginally have the wrong age on it... have I mentioned lately that I need a vacation?!?)

I hope someone else out there can find the same joy in using the free template below to make their own personalized invitations for someone special. I left space for two copies to be placed onto a 4x6 print if you prefer to have them printed at a store or online. I will warn you that you will want to check the cropping if you do this - my first order did get a little cut off around the edges. I just went back and added a little more space around the outside and then they looked perfect... well, except for the whole wrong age part!

So this where all my scrapbooking energy has been devoted lately... just wanted to be able to say that this is all DONE! Whew! You can click on the links below to see the digital versions of the books. I haven't ordered hard copies yet (waiting for a good sale first!). I've never used this site before but I needed to find one that allowed me to stretch my layouts across two pages at a time. The program was really easy to use though so I'm hopeful that I won't be disappointed when they eventually do arrive! I may decide to redesign the covers at some point with something a little more personalized, when/if I feel motivated that is!

If you know me then you know that I'm a full blown digi girl and always will be! So what exactly can you do with cards as a digital designer? Well that's easy! First, digitally design your card front. You could make it whatever size you'd like but I went with the standard 4x6:

Next print your design out on photo paper, cut (if applicable) and adhere to cardstock:

Voila! You've got a real, 3 dimensional, hold it in your hand card! All you need to do is add your own special little message inside and it's ready to pass on to someone you love:

Now, if I were really motivated (plus had the time and proper resources) I could have totally hybrided this up a little more by decorating the front with some extra ribbons, glitter, embellishments... you get the idea. But if a sweet and simple (still hand made) sentiment is all your looking for, then you're good to go. We digi girls will not be left behind! ;)

From the Atlantic... to the Pacific!

Yes, life has been pretty hectic around here the past few months but still this summer, my family was fortunate enough to also be able to kick back and relax (somewhat!) on two wonderful vacations... and as the title tells - we traveled all the way from the Atlantic to the Pacific!

First in July, we spent a few days hanging out at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and then just a couple short weeks later in August, we visited the beach at Santa Barbara, California! Below are two pages showcasing this awesome opportunity Isabella and Gavin were able to share together this summer!

I made this page a little while ago, on June 9th to be exact. It's one of Gavin's third birthday pictures and I was waiting to post it until I finished scrapping some more of his birthday pics. But since it's now become obvious to me that that won't be done for quite some while I thought I'd go ahead and share this one anyway! I think this was Gavin's best photo shoot yet! He was all smiles, hope that's a good sign for what being three will bring! Can't believe another year has gone by already!

Some Sad News

I'm sorry to inform you all that I have offically resigned my position with Divine Digital. Since the start of my new full time job in April, I just have not been able to work out a way to have enough time for designing AND a life! I am very sad about this, I really did love seeing others enjoy my work but the good news is that I am keeping my position with Scrap N' Art Magazine. Here's another page for my mom's book, I'm trying to get as much done before the 12th which is when my new job will start. I must admit, I'm a little nervous about what will happen to my scrapbooking when that happens! But only time will tell, anyways - back to this page! My mom's 60th birthday is coming up in May and I've been put in charge of making a photo book - no big surprise there! I apologize in advance for the seriousness of this post, I was actually debating whether I even wanted to share this page or not. Today is the anniversary of my older brother's death, it's been 8 years - hard to believe. So needless to say, he's been on mind more than usual the past week or so... Easter in general is always a reminder because his death occured over this holiday in 2002. One of the saddest things for me to think about is how my children will never know who their Uncle Jon was and that is what inspired this page:

These are old photos that I took and added my children to. The top one was originally a photo of me when I was younger sitting on my brother's lap, now you see Isabella there. The lower one was a photo of my brother holding his son, now it is Gavin. These images are something that can never be, they are memories which can only be made in their dreams - in my dreams. I actually wanted to do something more with this page but simply creating those images took enough out of me and I just had to stop. But perhaps it is better this way, an unfinished page - an unfinished life... I miss you Jon.

Alright, I just got tagged with the Honest Scrap Award by Carol! I am now supposed to list ten truths about myself and then pass this along to others! So here we go:

1. I spend way too much time in front of the computer, that one's pretty obvious!
2. I love my children and my family more than anything in the world, another rather obvious one!
3. I'm a horrible housewife, as we speak this house is a mess!
4. I played the clarinet for 11 years (4th grade - 2 years of college), haven't touched one in 5 years though... I sometimes wonder if I would still know how.
5. I've been to Disney World 8 times but haven't been there for 8 years. I've been majorly wanting to go back but I'm super excited that we'll most likely be going to Disneyland this year instead! (Which btw, would be my second trip there!)
6. I am very fortunate to have traveled a lot in my life but I've never left the country (well except into Canadian waters on a houseboat which I don't really count). I would really love to go to Europe, some day.
7. My Starbucks usual is an Iced Venti Quad Vanilla Latte even though I bring home an Unsweetened Passion Tea Lemonade every time I work!
8. My husband never asked me to 'go out' and never asked me to marry him. When questioned on how we got to where we are I respond, "It just happened!" I think that pretty much sums up life in general.
9. I have an addiction to chapstick, I seriously stick it in my bra so that I have it on me at all times.
10. When I was little I remember wanting to change my name when I got older but I must have been crazy, I love my name! I also answer to Mommy, Dee Dee, Dan Dan and D-Rock.
